Nassau County Named as FACT Member of the Year

The Nassau County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) has been named the 2025 Member County of the Year by the Florida Association of Counties Trust (FACT), a prestigious recognition highlighting the County’s commitment to excellence in risk management and public service. The announcement was made during FACT’s Annual Conference earlier this month, and the BOCC formally received the award at its regular meeting on February 23, 2026.

To earn this distinction, Nassau County demonstrated measurable success in three key areas: reducing insurance claims, continuing professional development, and actively collaborating with FACT and fellow member counties. Over the past several years, the County implemented proactive safety initiatives and strengthened internal procedures, resulting in a reduction in claims and improved operational efficiency. Staff also prioritized ongoing training and education to ensure best practices in workplace safety, compliance, and risk management. Additionally, Nassau County maintained strong partnerships with FACT and peer counties to share knowledge, strategies, and resources.

FACT is a public risk-sharing pool created by the Florida Association of Counties to provide property and casualty insurance coverage, risk management services, and training to counties across the state. By working collectively, member counties are able to control costs, reduce risks, and reinvest savings into essential public services.

Being named Member County of the Year reflects Nassau County’s dedication to responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars and its commitment to maintaining a safe environment for employees and residents alike. Fewer claims and stronger risk management practices help stabilize insurance costs, protect public assets, and ensure County resources remain focused on delivering high-quality services to the community.

This recognition underscores the BOCC’s ongoing efforts to operate efficiently, foster professional growth among staff, and collaborate at the state level to better serve Nassau County residents.
