Local seniors will have access to free mobility equipment and personal care items during the Great Giveaway hosted by the Nassau County Council on Aging (NCCOA).

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 7 at the Janice Ancrum Senior Life Center, located at 1901 Island Walk Way in Fernandina Beach.

Community members are encouraged to arrive early as all items and supplies are first come, first served. Giveaway items include free power scooters, power wheelchairs, walkers, canes, personal hygiene supplies, and other essential care items. NCCOA staff and volunteers will be available to help you transfer items to your vehicle. The event is open to local seniors age 60 and older. No registration is required.

“Many seniors go without critical mobility equipment due to cost,” said Janice Ancrum, President & CEO. “Through this event, we hope to remove barriers and ensure our community members maintain independence and dignity.”

NCCOA is home to a year-round Sharing Closet, a resource for free durable medical equipment and consumable medical supplies. Many of the same items in the Sharing Closet will be available during the Great Giveaway.

Founded in 1974 by local citizens, Nassau County Council on Aging (NCCOA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose goal is to maintain and enrich the lives of older citizens throughout Nassau County.
