Florida to Host Florida Broadband Summit 2025
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—FloridaCommerce, in partnership with CareerSource Florida, will host the Florida Broadband Summit 2025 from September 10-12 in Orlando, bringing together more than 300 leaders in state and local government, workforce, economic development, education, the broadband industry and more to build on Florida's broadband successes.
“Under Governor DeSantis’ leadership, Florida has made historic investments to connect our small cities and rural communities,” said Florida Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly. “FloridaCommerce's Office of Broadband has awarded more than $708 million in funding to grant programs, extending Florida's broadband infrastructure to rural communities —continuing to create opportunities for Florida’s job seekers and job creators.”
Since 2020, FloridaCommerce has been actively facilitating programs for unserved and underserved businesses, homes, farms and community anchor institutions to receive high-speed internet. Florida small cities and rural communities have received 85% of broadband infrastructure grants. These grants ensure Floridians across the state have reliable internet access to support workforce, education and health monitoring opportunities.
“Broadband access unlocks tremendous potential for Floridians,” said Adrienne Johnston, President and CEO of CareerSource Florida. “Expanding potential for job seekers to help build skills, connect with employers and participate in today’s digital economy.”
Broadband doesn’t just connect communities—it powers education, training and jobs:
- High speed internet links job seekers with online learning and employment.
- Infrastructure projects create skilled jobs in fiber, wireless and network maintenance.
- Broadband access helps rural areas and small cities attract businesses and talent.
Summit participants will discuss the future of Florida’s high-speed internet deployment including the BEAD Program, the Broadband Opportunity Program and other topics such as applications of broadband, emerging technologies, resilience against natural disasters, infrastructure deployment and workforce and economic impacts.
