Florida Adds 128,100 Private Sector Jobs Over the Year in June 2025

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Today, FloridaCommerce announced that Florida’s total private sector employment increased by 128,100 (+1.5%) over the year in June 2025. This week, CNBC has ranked Florida as the #1 economy in the nation for the third consecutive year, underscoring Florida’s continued economic strength through strategic investments, sound fiscal policy, and confidence in job creators and job seekers.

Florida also rose to #3 in CNBC’s 2025 ranking of best states for business, up two spots from 2024. In addition, Florida was ranked #2 for workforce development, further reinforcing Florida’s commitment to building a competitive and skilled labor force.

“Florida’s strong economy continues to lead the nation,” said Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly. “Building on this momentum—from targeted infrastructure investments to reducing regulatory burdens and supporting workforce innovation—Florida remains focused on long-term growth that benefits families, entrepreneurs and businesses across the state.”

In June, Governor DeSantis awarded $10 million to five Florida colleges through the Job Growth Grant Fund for construction related needs of the aerospace industry across the state. Since 2019, Governor DeSantis has directed over $10 billion into workforce education. This year the state budget allocates $726.9 million to workforce education programs, ensuring Floridians have access to education opportunities that lead to high-demand, high-wage jobs. These investments ensure Floridians are equipped with the skills needed to thrive in the evolving job market and support the state’s continued economic strength.

Florida’s private sector job growth rate has exceeded the national rate for 49 of the last 51 months since April 2021. The industry that gained the most jobs in June 2025 was the education and health services sector, adding 1,300 jobs.

As of June 2025, Florida employers have added jobs in 58 of the last 62 months since May 2020. Florida’s statewide unemployment rate was 3.7 percent in June 2025 and has been lower than the national rate for 56 consecutive months since November 2020.

Data in the month of June continues to indicate there are jobs available for every Floridian who wants to work, with more than 407,000 jobs posted online. Career seekers also can improve their employability by perfecting resume writing and interviewing skills, establishing career goals and pursuing customized career training.
