County Seeking Volunteers for Construction Board of Adjustments & Appeals
The Nassau County Board of County Commissioners is currently accepting applications for three volunteer positions on the Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals.
The seven-member Board is composed of the following:
- One (1) member with a background in a fire-related occupation and knowledge of applicable codes
- Three (3) members with experience in construction-related fields (general contracting or subcontracting in mechanical, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
- One (1) member with a background in architecture
- Two (2) members from any occupational background.
At this time, the County is seeking volunteers to fill vacancies in the following categories:
- Architecture
- Fire-related occupation
- One (1) position open to applicants from any occupational background.
The Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals is responsible for hearing and deciding appeals related to decisions or code interpretations made by the Building Official or Fire Official. This includes matters concerning the Florida Building Codes, National Electric Code, Fire Codes, Floodplain appeals, and Site Engineering Plans.
The Board meets tentatively on the first Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m., unless no cases are scheduled. Applicants must be residents of Nassau County and may not be employed by the Board of County Commissioners. These positions are volunteer roles with no compensation. Members serve two-year terms and are required to file a financial disclosure.
