Barnabas Center’s Reach in Nassau County Expands with New Refrigerated Truck
Fernandina Beach, FL -- Barnabas Center is proud to announce the organization has acquired a refrigerated truck to strengthen its capacity to serve Nassau County.
Barnabas Center was able to acquire the used, refrigerated box truck due to a generous gift from Baptist Health.
The truck will play a vital role in the recovery and distribution of food around the county, including rural West Nassau County, while also streamlining transportation issues. Adding this refrigerated vehicle to the fleet will allow Barnabas Center to safely transport and distribute dairy, frozen, produce and other perishable items to areas that have traditionally been underserved.
With food insecurity affecting thousands of neighbors each year, this investment will significantly expand Barnabas Center’s ability to deliver nutritious foods directly to local food pantries, community events, and underserved areas—including upcoming service expansions in West Nassau.
“Access to fresh, healthy food is essential to well-being,” said Jamie Reynolds, Barnabas Center President & CEO. “This gift from Baptist Health will allow us to keep food safe during transport and ensure families have access to quality, nutritious meals. We are deeply grateful for their continued partnership and commitment to the health of our community.”
The refrigerated truck will support Barnabas Center’s Nutrition Services Program, which last year distributed over 650,000 pounds of food to Nassau County households in need. By improving food delivery infrastructure, Barnabas Center can better respond to emergency needs, serve more families, and ensure food reaches those who need it most.
“Baptist Health is proud to support Barnabas Center in their mission to address food insecurity in Nassau County,” said Tara Beth Anderson, President & CEO of Baptist Medical Center Nassau. “Together, we can ensure healthier futures for our neighbors.”
