FSCJ Earns Military Friendly Top 10 Award

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) was named a Top 10 Military Friendly® School for 2025-26, in recognition of leading practices, outcomes and effective programs for student veterans. In addition to the Top 10 ranking, the College was also recognized as a Military Spouse Friendly School. This is the third year in a row the College has received Military Friendly Recognition, receiving the “Gold” ranking in 2023 and 2024.

Institutions across the country were evaluated using public data sources and their responses to a survey. Final ratings were determined by combining each institution’s survey responses with an assessment of their ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students, specifically for student veterans.

“FSCJ is delighted to be named a Top 10 Military Friendly School with special recognition of our services for military spouses this year,” said College President Dr. John Avendano. “Our faculty and staff are honored to support this extensive community of active-duty students, veteran students and their dependents. We are grateful for their service and helping them achieve their goals through higher education is a critical part of our mission.”

The Military and Veterans Service Center (MVSC) is the principal advocate at FSCJ for active military, veterans, military spouses and dependents, ensuring their unique needs are met. The staff serve as a connection to educational, financial and support resources to help these students be successful in their academic, professional and personal pursuits.
