TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Today, FloridaCommerce announced that the Florida manufacturing industry has gained jobs for five consecutive months, adding 1,900 jobs in March 2025. Florida’s labor force of nearly 11.2 million increased by 62,000 (+0.6%) over the year in March 2025.
Florida’s manufacturing industry reached 434,600 jobs in March 2025, an over-the-year increase of 5,700 jobs (+1.3%). Florida is home to 27,310 manufacturing establishments, a 32% increase since first quarter 2019.
“Under Governor DeSantis’ leadership, Florida’s manufacturers continue to be successful,” said Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly. “With the 2025-2026 Focus of Fiscal Responsibility budget Governor DeSantis will have invested more than $10 billion in workforce education—making Florida a top state for workforce training. Florida’s manufacturers can continue to be confident in our state, its available and talented workforce, and its economic stability.”
As of March 2025, Florida employers have added jobs in 56 of the last 59 months since May 2020. Total private employment increased by 113,600 jobs (1.3%) over the year. This was faster than the national rate of 1.2%. Florida’s statewide unemployment has been lower than the national rate for 53 consecutive months since November 2020.
Florida’s private sector job growth rate has exceeded the national rate for 46 of the last 48 months since April 2021. The industry that gained the most jobs in March 2025 was the trade, transportation and utilities sector, adding 5,800 jobs; followed by education and health services, adding 5,600 jobs.
