![]() Internationally acclaimed violinist Itzhak Perlman will make a return appearance to the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival on March 19. Revered as one of the world’s greatest virtuosos, Mr. Perlman enjoys a superstar status rarely accorded a classical musician. This 7:30 PM concert will be held at First Baptist Church, 1600 S. 8th Street in Fernandina Beach. Born in Israel in 1945, Mr. Perlman came to New York as a young man and was propelled into the international arena with an appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1958. Since winning the prestigious Leventritt Competition in 1964, he has appeared with every major orchestra and in recitals and festivals around the world. Recipient of 15 Grammy Awards, Mr. Perlman was honored in 2008 with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for excellence in the recording arts. He will be accompanied by acclaimed pianist Rohan de Silva, who also partners with such luminaries as Pinchas Zukerman, Midori, Joshua Bell and Gil Shaham. Upcoming concerts in the Festival’s 2020 season include a Free Family Concert with the Kelly/Scott Jazz Quintet on March 27, a Free Concert in Amelia Park with the UNF Big Band Ensemble on March 28, and piano virtuoso Valentina Lisitsa on March 31.
