4/3/23 @ 4:15 p.m. - World Earth Day will be recognized this year on Saturday, April 22nd. To celebrate, the Board of County Commissioners and Keep Nassau Beautiful is hosting a Tree Planting Ceremony. Not only are trees nice to look at, they provide shade from the hot Florida sun and oxygen for us to breathe!
The Tree Planting Ceremony will take place on Friday, April 21st at 2pm at the Sheriff's Administration Office located at 77151 Citizens Circle in Yulee. This location was chosen to create a nice outdoor picnic/rest area for the Sheriff's Office. It overlooks a pond and will create a nice shaded place for Sheriff's employees to eat lunch, take a break or just a quiet spot for them to decompress during a stressful day. The public is welcome to attend the event and celebrate Earth Day with us! We appreciate our partner, Keep Nassau Beautiful, for assisting in coordination of the event and for providing after-care instructions to ensure the tree is properly cared for once planted. We also appreciate Liberty Landscape for their guidance in selecting the proper tree for our site and for their generous donation of the tree. -Sabrina Robertson Public Information Officer
