Media Release November 5, 2021 On Tuesday, November 2, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director, Rochelle P. Walensky, M.D., M.P.H., endorsed the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ (ACIP) recommendation that children ages 5-11 be vaccinated against COVID-19 with the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 pediatric vaccine.
CDC has expanded vaccine recommendations for the use of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccination to these children, ages 5-11, along with the continued recommendation for individuals 12 years and older in the US. COVID-19 vaccines continue to remain available for all individuals ages 12 years and older with Pfizer- BioNTech and 18 years and older for Moderna and Janssen (Johnson and Johnson). CDC began distribution of pediatric COVID-19 vaccinations across the country this week, with plans to scale up to full capacity beginning the week of November 8th. Vaccines will be available at pediatric healthcare provider offices, county health departments, pharmacies, Federally Qualified Health Centers and other participating locations across the state.
