The Amelia Island Plantation Community Association (AIPCA) has opened The Oaks, a new community center designed to enhance daily life in this storied residential resort community. The centerpiece of The Oaks’ 6,845-square-foot first floor is an upscale, casual "living room" where community members may gather and relax with neighbors. The Sunset Room event space is perfect for private parties, while The Oaks’ two multi-purpose rooms allow for expanded community activities and engagement. The Oaks also features an 1,835-square-foot outdoor seating area which maximizes the site's splendid views looking west over the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort's Oak Marsh golf course, the marsh and on to the Amelia River. In a unique initiative, the new community center includes an unfinished, 4,385-square-foot second floor for current storage and future growth, providing Amelia Island Plantation significant flexibility to meet future demand for additional space. The new $3.8 million, 11,230-square-foot community center was built on the site of the previous 4,456-square-foot Property Owners Club, originally built in 1986. “This is the largest capital project ever undertaken by the AIPCA,” said Immediate Past President Rick Mesard. “It has been accomplished without debt, and without a special assessment of our membership. In addition to its beauty and usefulness, The Oaks is a tribute to the Association’s continuity and financial prudence.” The construction of The Oaks caps a period of strategic capital investment by the AIPCA in Amelia Island Plantation’s future. Improvements in the last three years include the reopening of Sunken Forest, an observation platform that provides views of a preserved maritime forest and the Amelia Island shoreline, substantial improvements to community parks and trails, and creation of a navigational mobile app, the “Amelia Island Guide,” that helps visitors explore Amelia Island Plantation’s neighborhoods and amenities. “The Oaks joins Amelia Island Plantation’s long list of undeniable assets -- our beautiful tree canopy, our more than 3 miles of beach, the marsh, the wildlife, our proximity to Fernandina Beach and Jacksonville, and the world-class amenities provided by the Amelia Island Club and the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort,” said AIPCA President Tom Sutton. “As we approach our 50th anniversary in 2022, Amelia Island Plantation continues to expand offerings to our members while sustaining our incredible environmental heritage as a community in harmony with nature.” About Amelia Island Plantation Amelia Island Plantation is a master-planned community encompassing more than 1,350 acres of maritime forests and marshes, alongside three and a half miles of uncrowded beach front on Amelia Island, Florida.
