FPL to Display Year-Round Drone Diagnostic Capabilities and Grid Improvements as First Month of Hurricane Season Wraps Up
WHAT: FPL will demonstrate how it is improving reliability for customers in good weather and bad by putting neighborhood power lines underground, strengthening main power lines and using drone technology to assess the energy grid in Nassau County. Join FPL personnel and local leaders to see how FPL is continuously upgrading the grid to improve service for customers.
WHY: FPL is replacing overhead power lines with more reliable underground lines in neighborhoods with a history of outages caused by storms, trees and vegetation. FPL also continues to harden main power lines to withstand extreme wind loads. FPL also conducts more than 200 drone flights every day, proactively assessing FPL equipment to avoid customer interruptions and reduce outage times. With hurricane season underway, see how FPL uses drones both during good weather and following storms to identify impacts to the energy grid and speed restoration.
