Jacksonville, Fla. (October 5, 2022) – While most families still have a few weeks before their Thanksgiving preparations begin in earnest, Family Support Services already has the holiday season front of mind. FSS recently began outreach to donors and other organizations for financial assistance to provide Thanksgiving dinner for at least 200 foster families across the First Coast.
“Now more than ever, it’s critical that we find ways to strengthen our network of support for families providing foster care,” said FSS President and CEO Jenn Petion. “A $50 donation will support Thanksgiving dinner for a family of four, helping lighten the financial weight that comes with the holiday season. These families have opened their homes to provide a safety net for children in care, and this is one way we offer support to those caregivers.” Individuals can make donations on the Family Support Services website at fssjax.org. Information is also available for businesses wishing to provide gifts in-kind or corporate sponsorships. Corporate sponsorships also help raise awareness and support foster parent recruitment.
