FERNANDINA BEACH, FL (February 11, 2022) – Boys and Girls Clubs of Nassau County congratulates our January 2022 Youths of the Month. Roberts Learning & Achievement Center member Connor Melhorn and Miller Freedom Center member Emma Godfrey are our latest members to receive this recognition.
Connor Melhorn is an eleven-year-old in the 6th grade at Fernandina Beach Middle School and has been a member at Roberts Learning & Achievement Center since August of 2017. Connor really likes working on computers and the Technology program is his favorite at the club. Among other favorites, Connor enjoys rock music, the band Shinedown, and playing the guitar. He also enjoys drawing as a hobby and blue is his favorite color. Connor loves to read in school and the novels about Percy Jackson & The Olympians are his top choice. As for his favorite sport, Connor says it’s baseball. Emma Godfrey is an eleven-year-old in the 5th grade at Yulee Elementary School and attends Miller Freedom Center. Emma has been a member of Boys & Girls Clubs of Nassau County since August of 2019. When Emma was asked what her favorite program at Miller Club is, she responded that she enjoys all the programs, but S.M.A.R.T. Moves is her favorite because it teaches how to make good choices and helps with her self-esteem. Emma enjoys country music, the singer/songwriter Morgan Wallen, Diamond Painting, Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling, and soccer. As for school, Emma says math is her favorite subject.
