10/13/20 @ 1:30 p.m. - At the Monday, October 12, 2020 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners approved Resolution No. 2020-166 declaring the week of October 18 through October 24, 2020 as Breast Cancer Awareness Week in Nassau County, and proclaiming Wednesday, October 21st as "Pink Day".
Resident and survivor, Jennifer Freeman Suggs, was in attendance to accept the Resolution. She was just 38 years old when she was diagnosed. She had her annual wellness exam just a few months prior and everything was normal at that time. She stated, "I encourage everyone to do self-checks. Early detection is key... it could save a life. It saved mine". Ms. Suggs stated that she will share and help anyone else battling breast cancer. Click here to learn more about Ms. Suggs' journey through her FaceBook page, Jen's Fight Club. All Nassau County residents are encouraged to wear pink on Wednesday, October 21st to promote breast cancer awareness and to remind everyone of the value of early detection. -Sabrina Robertson County Manager's Office
