Ford Weldon
School: Southside Elementary
Grade: 2nd
Age: 7
 
Ford Weldon is a seven-year-old in the 2nd grade at Southside Elementary School and a club member at Roberts Learning and Achievement Center. Ford has been a member of Boys & Girls Clubs of Nassau County since August. Ford loves swimming, and his favorite colors are black, yellow and gray. He excels at math, enjoys football, and reading books about war. His favorite band is 7 Nation Army. Since becoming a member, Ford has demonstrated the Boys & Girls Clubs core values and has been an asset to the Roberts Club membership. Way to go, Ford!

Cashes Fernandez
School: Wildlight Elementary
Grade: 4th
Age: 9
 
Cashes Fernandez is a nine-year-old in the 4th grade at Wildlight Elementary School and has been a Miller Freedom Center club member for a year.  His favorite program is Sports and Recreation, and he really enjoys playing basketball and football with his friends. Cashes’ favorite color is green, and his favorite athlete is Kobe Bryant. Cashes loves to read, and does so at a high school level! His current favorite book is Diary of a Wimpy Kid.  Cashes always has a positive attitude and is eager to learn new things. He is a great role model for his peers. Congratulations, Cashes!

Christy Wright – September 2022
School: Hilliard Elementary
Grade: 2nd
Age: 8
 
Christy Wright is an 8 year-old in the 2nd grade at Hilliard Elementary School.  Coming to the Boys & Girls Club in Hilliard is her first after-school experience and she loves being a member. Her favorite program is Health & Life Skills, because she enjoys learning about safety and character development. Her favorite sport is baseball, especially the local Hilliard team, “Black Flashes,” and Coach Chris. In school, her favorite subject is math, and she says it is both cool and fun!  She loves the color blue and playing with her dolls. At the club, she encourages the younger club members to read aloud to her, and she helps them with their pronunciation. She is always thoughtful and willing to help with any task. Congratulations, Christy!
