Nassau County 4-H programs highlight 4-H youth talents in public speaking, demonstration/illustrated talks, photography, chef in training, and share the fun (talent). All of our winners from county events advance to the district competition and a possible opportunity to advance to state except for photography.
In the photography portion of County Events, the winners will advance directly to the Florida 4-H State Photography competition to compete against other 4-H youth in their age division. This year we had 90 photography entries that were submitted by all the age divisions for our County Events Program. (Cloverbuds 5-7, Juniors 8-10, Intermediates 11-13, and Seniors 14-18)
Categories of photos include: black and white, still life, animal, flora/fauna, architecture, etc.

County to Host Outdoor Movie Night

Join the county as we kick off our Summer Movie Series. The first movie featured will be "The Goonies". We are happy to have the Amelia Island Convention & Visitors Bureau partner with us for this first event in honor of National Travel & Tourism Week which is recognized from May 7 - May 13, 2023.
You can enjoy the movie from your car using a designated radio station or you can bring chairs and blankets and enjoy the movie in front of our giant movie screen. There will be food trucks onsite for you to enjoy as well.

The County Commissioners and representatives from Nassau County Animal Services were invited to the Yulee Winn Dixie’s grand re-opening event this morning. During the ceremony, they were presented with a $1,000 donation to Animal Services that will be used to assist the department with expenses related to animal care and control. They were also invited to participate in the ceremonial ribbon cutting. Thank you Winn Dixie for your generous donation and for including the county in your celebration!
Over the course of 22 years, Leadership Nassau has grown to become the most exclusive leadership development program in our community. Leadership Nassau provides participants with an in-depth understanding of the various socio-economic aspects that directly affect our county and region. During the 10-month program, students engage in activities that connect them with local leaders, while simultaneously helping them form a life-long bond with fellow classmates.
More than 360 members of the Nassau County community have participated in Leadership Nassau, with graduates ranging from Circuit Judges to small business owners and everything in between. The program is open to any resident of Nassau County, but recruitment targets individuals with diverse backgrounds and seeks a racial, gender, and age mix that is reflective of the local population.

Tyler Plaza West and Coastal Callahan Center coming soon
NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. (April 25, 2023) – Cross Regions Group, a multifaceted company specializing in commercial real estate services, proudly announces two new medical and retail centers are in development in Yulee and Callahan.
Tyler Plaza West is a 5.24-acre mixed-use development on Florida A1A in Yulee. The development offers more than 18,000 rentable square feet for medical, restaurant and retail tenants. Standard & Poor’s Increases County’s Issuer Rating to “AA+”
Nassau County, Florida, April 24, 2023 – We are excited to announce that Standard & Poor’s has raised Nassau County’s long-term rating on non ad valorem bonds from an AA to AA+, citing the County’s “improvement in operating performance and fund balances as a result of proactive management practices”. Standard & Poor’s is one of the world’s largest credit rating agencies known for measuring changes in a securities market. They assign letter grades to companies and government entities that indicate their degree of investment risk.
In announcing its decision, S&P cited several key reasons for the increase, including:
The S&P report also includes a newer area of analysis focused on environmental, social, and governance (ESG). This category looks at the County’s ability to be forward-looking to manage future risks and opportunities. As noted, they recognized the County’s investment into stormwater management and conservation (CLAM) to help mitigate risks to the county's physical assets.

VyStar Credit Union announced today its intent to pursue a merger with 121 Financial Credit Union. Both headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, the credit unions have more than 150 years of combined experience serving their members and communities. The transaction is expected to close later this year pending regulatory and member approval as well as standard closing conditions.
