CVB Team Honored with Multiple Adrian Awards, ADDY Awards

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. (Mar. 7, 2022) – The Amelia Island Convention & Visitors Bureau (AICVB) has won four awards, including two Gold, for outstanding travel marketing for winning entries in the 65th annual Adrian Awards, the largest and most prestigious global travel marketing competition, conducted by the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI). The awards will be presented during the HSMAI Adrian Awards celebration on March 30 at The Boca Raton in Boca Raton, Florida. The AICVB also recently won three ADDY Awards, including two Gold and one “Best of,” in the annual American Advertising Awards, the largest and longest running creative competition in the industry. Those winning entries will now compete in district competition of the American Advertising Federation, which includes all of Florida and the Caribbean.

“It’s very gratifying to see several elements of our integrated marketing plan recognized by these two highly esteemed award programs,” said Gil Langley, President and CEO of the Amelia Island CVB. “Our professional marketing team and various partners are the brains and brawn behind this award-winning work, but the awards belong to a much larger group. Only by working with the Nassau County Board of County Commissioners and the Amelia Island Tourist Development Council were we able to develop and execute a powerful and memorable – and now award-winning – marketing plan to drive the rapid recovery we’ve seen in our local tourism economy.”

For 2021, HSMAI designed the Adrian Awards to reflect the current travel landscape, with Focus Categories of Recovery Marketing, Recovery Campaign Evolution, Technology Innovation, and Corporate Social Responsibility, in addition to traditional Adrian Award categories. There were more than 600 entries submitted and judged by experts in hospitality, travel, tourism and media.

“The HSMAI Adrian Awards recognize important work done by the industry to empower recovery in 2021,” said Robert A. Gilbert, CHME, CHBA, president and CEO of HSMAI. “Hospitality and tourism professionals continued to face evolving challenges that required innovation and ingenuity. HSMAI is proud to recognize the extraordinary efforts of hospitality sales, marketing, and revenue optimization leaders with Adrian Awards. By recognizing incredible work, we will share the best practices that will continue to drive recovery.”

The AICVB received two Gold Adrian Awards for the “Island Perks on Amelia Island” campaign in Corporate Social Responsibility, and the “Moments” Campaign in Digital Marketing – Social Media, along with two Bronze Awards for Dickens on Centre (Public Relations Special Event) and the Cabana Life Brand & Influencer Ambassador Collaboration (Public Relations Influencer Marketing). Winning entries will be viewable online at AdrianAwards.com in the winners’ gallery following the March 30 celebration.

During the local awards gala of the American Advertising Federation (AAF), held February 17 in Boca Raton, Florida, the AICVB received additional recognition for its tourism marketing efforts, winning two Gold ADDY Awards and “Best of Interactive” for its Weather Triggered Ad Campaign. Designed to trigger clever, high-engagement ads when the weather in northeast US markets turned cold, the campaign invited visitors to escape the snow, slush and cold in favor of Amelia Island’s clear blue skies. The effort earned Gold ADDYs in the Web Advertising and Data-Driven Media categories, as well as the show-wide “Best of Interactive” honors, thanks to its unique use of data to drive the creative and media effort. The entries advance to compete in the district competition, with winners to be announced in April. All winning entries will be accessible in the ADDY Awards Winners Gallery at AAFSFL.org/awards.
