4.13.10
Neil Blalock and Arlene Filkoff will face each other in a run-off election Tuesday, May 11. The two were the top two highest vote getters in the municipal election April 13, but neither earned a majority of the votes cast.
Voters approved nine of the 11 proposed City Charter amendments on the April 13 ballot. Questions No. 3 and 6 did not pass.
Current Mayor Susan Hardee Steger won the straw poll vote for mayor. The Commission appoints the city's mayor, but traditionally follows the results of the straw poll vote.
(3 Year Term; Non-partisan)
The Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce invited all Fernandina Beach City Commission candidates to answer an Issues Questionnaire. The questions were developed by the Chamber's Public Affairs Committee.
All answers from the Candidates are posted as they were provided to the Chamber. Answers were limited to 75 words per question. Any answers that exceeded the word limit are dropped at that point.
All candidates also were invited to videotape a 3-minute version of their "stump speech" and to give two-minute answers on video to two questions selected from the Issues Questionnaire.
